Arizona trails Colorado 10-7 at end of first quarter
In five appearences this season, backup quarterback B.J. Denker didn’t do much to inspire much confidence.
Now the starter, as Matt Scott is out with a concussion, things didn’t start much better against Colorado as the 1-8 Buffaloes lead 10-7 after the first quarter.
Denker’s first drive started with a fumble near Arizona’s own end zone, and Colorado recovered and finished out the drive with a 7-yard touchdown run from running back Christian Powell.
Denker recovered on the next drive, though, going 3-for-3 with 42 yards and running back Ka’Deem Carey finished off the drive with a 10-yard rushing touchdown, his 14th of the season. Carey surpassed ex-Wildcat Nick Grigsby for third place on Arizona’s single season rushing touchdown list.
In addition to Denker, freshman safety Vince Miles, freshman linebacker C.J. Dozier and freshman guard Cayman Bundage all started due to injuries to starters Jourdon Grandon, Hank Hobson and Chris Putton, respectively.
