Arizona (19-9, 9-7 Pac-12) recorded another sweep at home after defeating Colorado (15-11, 7-9 Pac-12) on Sunday in McKale Center.

The UA improved its home record to 15-2 on the season and 7-1 in the Pac-12. After losing their first conference home match, to Washington on Nov. 10, the Wildcats have won all six sets they have played.

“I’m really pleased with what took place this weekend,” said head coach Dave Rubio.

Sophomore middle blocker Olivia Magill led Arizona with 14.5 points as well as nine kills with a .412 hitting percentage and eight blocks. After not getting much playing time, Magill got on the court Sunday and took advantage.

“I thought Olivia really came out on a mission,” Rubio said. “She had something to prove and she came and she did really well.”

Junior outside hitter Madi Kingdon recorded a match-high of 13 kills and a .312 hitting percentage as well as nine digs. Kingdon and junior outside hitter Jane Croson said they were satisfied with the team’s overall performance during the weekend.

“I thought we came really well-prepared for each game,” Croson said.

Arizona’s attacking percentage for the weekend was one of the best ones it has had this season. The Wildcats were solid on their defense during the first set and didn’t allow Colorado to score much, winning the set 25-10.

Colorado was aggressive on its defense as well as its offense in the beginning of the second set, forcing Arizona to call a timeout when the Buffaloes had the 8-4 lead. Arizona caught up and the Buffaloes tried to make a comeback but fell short 25-20.

During the third set Colorado showed momentum on its side of the court and tried to catch up, frustrating Arizona’s defense. However, the Wildcats pulled through and took the third set 25-16.
Arizona will travel for the last time of the season as they take on No. 4 USC and UCLA. The Wildcats will play the Trojans on Friday, and they will take on the Bruins on Sunday.
