Overplayed Christmas tunes and red and green ornaments remind us that the holidays are quickly approaching. If ugly sweaters and hot chocolate aren’t satisfying your ever-growing holiday spirit, here’s a list of things you can do this weekend to kick off the season.

    Buy A Christmas Tree

When you think of Christmas, you think of trees. Beautiful, shining, decorated Charlie Brown Christmas trees. Instead of buying a plastic tree at the nearest Target, grab your roommates and head out to the Buckalew Farm Christmas Tree Lot on the corner of Campbell Avenue and Broadway Boulevard to buy a live tree. They smell good, they look good and they’re a staple of the Christmas season.

    Luminaria Lights

Tucson Botanical Gardens is lighting up the night this weekend, sharing with its 27th annual Luminaria Lights this Friday through Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The gardens will be shining bright with sparkling lights and decorated trees. Luminaria lights will also feature a visit from Santa Claus himself, food trucks and live music. Tickets are $11 for adults and $5 for children.

    Zoo Lights

Twinkling lights and jingling bells are back this year at Reid Park Zoo, beginning this Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Gather your friends, wrap yourself up in the warmest scarf you own and lose yourself in the holiday spirit. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for children and kids under 2 are free.

    White Christmas, The Musical

The International Gay Bowling Organization presents “White Christmas: The Musical” at The Loft Cinema on Saturday. The show starts at 7 p.m., and tickets are $10. Gather your friends and head out to The Loft for an interactive night of holiday cheer.

    CHISPA Festival de Navidad

Fox Tucson Theatre presents the CHISPA Foundation’s Festival de Navidad today. The show will highlight the cultural traditions of the holiday, with performances by Ballet Folklorico San Juan, Puppet Muzik and more. The show begins at 10 a.m. and tickets are $15 for students.
