No. 14 Arizona hockey defeated No. 1 ASU on Saturday in Sun Devil territory. The Wildcats won 2-1 to end a 37-game winless streak against ASU. It is the first time in UA hockey history that the team has defeated two top-ranked teams in one season. Arizona had not beat ASU since February 2009.

No. 13 Arizona gymnastics defeated the GymDawgs 196.500-195.175 on Saturday night. The Gymcats scored its highest beam score of the season, 97.950. Arizona junior Shay Fox led Arizona with a score of 9.875, tying for first place in her first career title.

Senior Lawi Lalang won the men’s 3,000-meter race when the Arizona No. 8 men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in Seattle on Saturday. Lalang finished with a time of 7:44.20, which is the No. 1 time in the country for the year. Lalang is the NCAA Champion in the event.

Arizona women’s tennis team swept New Mexico State and San Francisco during its home double header on Sunday.

The No. 17 UA Gymcats fell to No. 1 Oklahoma, 197.575-196.925, in front a crowd of 2,166 on Saturday at the McKale Memorial Center. The Gymcats total of 196.925 is the fifth-highest score in program history.

Three Arizona baseball players, senior pitcher James Farris, sophomore infielder Kevin Newman and freshman infielder Bobby Dalbec, were named Top 50 prospects for their class by Baseball America.

The Arizona men’s basketball team lost its first game of the season Saturday night when California defeated the Wildcats 60-58 on a last-second fadeaway jump shot. Arizona lost its status as one of the three undefeated teams in Division 1 and dropped down to No. 2 in the AP Top 25 poll.
Syracuse now holds on to the No. 1 spot.

Arizona starting sophomore forward Brandon Ashley went down with a foot injury in the first half of Saturday’s game against California and will be out for the remainder of the season.

Arizona women’s basketball lost to Oregon State 64-50 on Sunday at McKale Center and now has a 10-game losing streak. Tonight it faces ASU, a team it has lost to five games in a row.

The Arizona swimming and diving teams lost to Texas on Senior Day on Saturday at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center. The Texas men defeated Arizona 194-153 and the Texas women defeated Arizona 196-157.

After strong doubles, the Arizona men’s tennis team was not able to defeat No. 44 Boise State on Sunday. The UA lost 5-2 and dropped to a 5-5 record on the year.
