No trespassing
A UAPD police officer stopped a suspicious-looking man outside the Modern Languages building on Feb. 23.
The man tried to open the doors on both the southwest side and the northeast side of the building.
The officer on bike patrol watched the man, who noticed the officer and began walking in the opposite direction.
The officer stopped the man and asked if he had any affiliation with the UA. The man said he was a student at Pima Community College. He handed the officer a CVS pharmacy card with the name of a company on the back when asked for identification. The man told the officer he worked for that company.
The officer asked the male why he was on campus and the male said he wanted to use the library. When the officer asked him about attempting to enter the Modern Languages building, the male said he thought he could use a computer and that he had a friend who works in the building.
The man gave the name of his friend to the officer, who looked him up in the UA phonebook and did not find any contact information.
The officer also noticed the man was carrying a shoulder bag and a small zip up bag. The officer asked the man if he could search the bags and the man agreed. Both of the bags were empty.
The man did not give his teachers’ names at Pima Community College or his supervisor’s name for the company he works for. The officer informed the man about his whereabouts on campus being suspicious. The officer said if the man returned to campus for no reason, he could face arrest for trespassing.
Eyes wide open
A UA student was referred to the Dean of Students after being cited for minor in possession of alcohol on Feb. 23.
A UAPD officer on duty was notified by a resident assistant of Gila Residence Hall about a student needing medical services for extreme intoxication. The officer and Tucson Fire Department went to the dorm room to check on the resident.
Officials found the male resident lying on his bed with both eyes open. The officer noticed the resident had bloodshot eyes and the smell of alcohol on his breath. The resident told the officer he had consumed only two beers at an off campus party, but did not disclose the location of the party to the officer.
TFD evaluated the male and found he was in a stable condition to stay with his roommate before leaving the residence hall.
