Arizona freshman jumper Avery Mickens practices distance running during track and field practice at Drachman Stadium on Feb. 11. Mickens was named the Pac-12 Men’s Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

The nationally ranked Arizona men’s and women’s track and field teams will host the Jim Click Combined Events and Jim Click Shootout this weekend at Roy P. Drachman Stadium.

The first event, which starts Thursday and Friday, will be the combined events. The main shootout event will start on Saturday and carry over to Sunday.

The No. 11 women’s team and No. 17 men’s Wildcat teams will compete against Air Force, Kansas State, New Mexico and Washington State. The Cougars will only compete on Saturday.

Last season at the Jim Click Shootout, the Arizona women’s team won and the men’s team finished in fourth place.

This is only the second of four home meets this season for the Arizona track and field teams. In their previous meet at the Oregon Pepsi Duel both of the Wildcats’ teams lost to Oregon.

Pac-12 Player of the Week
Arizona has won the last two conference field athlete of the week. Two weeks ago Arizona shot putter Julie Labonté was named Pac-12 Women’s Athlete of the Week. Last week jumper Avery Mickens was named Pac-12 Men’s Athlete of the Week.

Julie Labonté
Labonté, a senior, will throw the discus at 1 p.m. on Saturday, and will compete in the shot put at 2:30 p.m.

Avery Mickens
Mickens, a freshman, will look to defend his Pac-12 honor by once again competing in more than three events. He will first run in the men’s decathlon on Thursday at 11 a.m. He will then run in the men’s 4×100-meter relay race and then the high jump at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
