    Police Beat: September 30

    This sidewalk ain’t big enough

A UA student was cited and released for minor in possession of alcohol on Sept. 20.

A University of Arizona Police Department officer was dispatched to the Likins Hall Residence Hall around 2 a.m. in reference to a man who had been sleeping on the sidewalk and began vomiting when woken up. Upon the officers arrival, University Emergency Medical Services was already on the scene attempting to evaluate the man.

The male was very argumentative and stated that he would not sit on the ground because there was not enough room. When Tucson Fire Department firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a place for the man to sit so he could be evaluated.

The officer said that the individual seemed very agitated with his presence. The male repeatedly swore at the officer, TFD firefighters, and EMS workers. The individual repeatedly refused to give the officer his name and said he just needed food and he would be fine.

After speaking to the officer, the man verbally identified himself. He had red, watery and bloodshot eyes, difficulty keeping his balance and visible vomit on his socks and shoes. The man also had varying moods that shifted quickly from angry and argumentative to sad.

The man then began crying because he claimed that TFD firefighters had mistreated him by being too rough. He was then medically cleared.

    The Devil’s New Clothes

A UA student reported that he had woken up to find his clothes, cellphone and wallet missing on Sept. 20.

A UAPD officer responded to the man, who said he had been drugged the night before. He explained that he had been drinking beer at his friend’s dorm room with other individuals. He could not recall the room number, but identified his friend.

He said he drank three 12-ounce cans of beer and went to the bathroom. When he returned, a visiting student from Arizona State University whom he only knew by first name pointed at a shot of vodka he had been served earlier and said, “You haven’t touched that in a while.” The student took the shot and drank it.

The student left later with another friend to hang out at another location. He said he remembered meeting with a few people and going to a few apartments, but nothing after that.

The student then said he woke up later naked with Tucson Police Department officers talking to him. He said the only article of clothing he had on was his wrist watch. He was given a blanket and was transported to his dorm.

The student said he was not hung over and felt fine after being escorted to his dorm, which led him to believe he was drugged. He later went to have a blood test performed.

He was told, however, that everything was normal, and that if he had been drugged, it had already left his system.

The student then reported that his clothes, shoes, socks, wallet, keys and cellphone were missing. He was given a victim’s rights form and advised to call UAPD if he had any further information regarding the case.
