The Arizona men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams kick off their 2015-2016 season on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center. The men will take on UNLV in a dual meet while the women’s team faces off against Washington State and UNLV.

On the women’s side, the Wildcats will look to make leaps and bounds after their successful season in 2014. The team finished in 15th place at the NCAA Championships and fourth place at the Pac-12 Championships.

Senior and six-time All-American Bonnie Brandon will lead the Wildcats after setting a new school record in the 1,650 free.

The female Rebels took fifth place last season at the Mountain West Championships. The Cougars won six straight dual meets last season and finished eighth at the Pac-12 Championships.

On the men’s side, the team is coming off a 13th place finish at the NCAA Championships and fourth place at the Pac-12 Championships.

Leading the Wildcats is senior Rafael Quintero, who earned two All-American honors last season. He was the Pac-12 Conference champion in the platform competition in both 2013 and 2015.

The men and women’s teams will each feature 11 swimmers and divers competing for the first time in collegiate competition as freshmen.

Head coach Rick DeMont enters his second season at the helm of the Wildcats and 26th overall as a member of the coaching staff.

UNLV men’s swim and dive team will look quite different this year under interim head coach Bobby Folan, who previously served as head assistant coach for the past three seasons.

The male Rebels were the 2015 WAC Conference champions last season.

The Wildcats will look to continue their swimming dynasty after their performance last season. Seventeen athletes on both teams combined to earn 46 All-American honors, a rare feat in the sport.

The road to back to the championships kicks off Friday for Arizona.
