Looking to build on one of the best seasons in program history – one in which it went 14-6-2 and made it to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament — the Arizona women’s soccer team added ten new recruits to the program on 2016 National Signing Day.

“It is always exciting to officially announce on National Signing Day the players we have been working with throughout the recruiting process,” Arizona head coach Tony Amato told Arizona Athletics. “We started to evaluate this group as players and learn about them as people over two years ago. While it is easier to really build a relationship with them once they are on our campus as student-athletes, my interactions with them throughout this process have been impressive.”

The class consists of three forwards, a center-midfielder, five defenders and a goalkeeper.

Forwards: Maddie Bennett (La Mirada, CA), Jill Aguilera (Sunnyvale, CA), Dana Dalton (San Diego, CA).

Center-midfielder: Kelcey Cavarra (Littleton, CO)

Defenders: Zoe Barrie (San Mateo, CA), Leah Carillo (Fountain Hills, AZ), Samantha Falasco (Newport Beach, CA), Brynn Moga (Phoenix, AZ), Tia Painilainen (Espoo, Finland).

Goalkeeper: Meredith Reinhardt (Scottsdale, AZ).

Amato, who is entering his fourth season as the head coach at Arizona, is hopeful that the newcomers can help continue the success that the program has experienced in the last few seasons.

“They know what our vision for Arizona Soccer is and want to develop and evolve with us,” he said. “All of them enjoy competing at a high level and I am confident they will successfully embrace this new challenge. I am looking forward to adding them to our current group of players who have been committed to winning in the three seasons we have been here.”

Amato has compiled a 34-21-6 record in three seasons as the head coach at Arizona, and the 2014 and 2015 seasons marked the first time in program history that it won an NCAA Tournament game in consecutive seasons.
