Video: Presidential battle royale, Finnegan and White face off in ASUA debate

On the eve of the ASUA general election, ASUA candidates Michael Finnegan and Hannah White met to debate the biggest issues facing the UA today, and in the future. 

At the conclusion of the February 17 primary elections, Finnegan led white by a 31.43 percent — with Finnegan taking 54.5 percent of the vote and White trailing with 23.07 percent. With voting beginning tomorrow at 8 a.m. and continuing on till Wednesday at 8 p.m. this was the last chance for the candidates to appeal to voters and discuss their platforms.

On First Action as President

White wants to tackle diversity, points out the lack of diversity on campus and explains how she thinks it can be fixed. While Finnegan jumps right in to the issue of tuition, saying that the answer to the problem can be difficult to find — but he believes that legislation is the answer.

Making the issue of mental health easier to talk about, counseling accessibility, addressing student suicide and impressing a feeling of “being at home” on campus.

“We already to pay enough for tuition” — Policy, legislative action, inter-university cooperation and accusations that Finnegan wanted to raise tuition in the past.
