The Arizona women’s golf team is back and heading to the Pac-12 Preview in Kailua Kona, Hawaii on Monday and Tuesday. The tournament will take place at the Nanea Golf Club for the fourth year of the tournament.

The Wildcats finished in third place at the event last season, with a total score of 888 for the tournament—just 11 strokes behind UCLA, as the Bruins took the championship.

The Wildcats will be up against several other top-ranked Pac-12 Conference teams including No.1 UCLA, No. 6 Stanford, No. 22 USC and No. 10 ASU. Also returning to the tournament are California, Oregon, Colorado, Washington, Washington State, Oregon State and Hawaii.

“We are very competitive,” Arizona head coach Laura Ianello said. “We will need to play well to win against the other strong teams in the Pac-12.”

The Wildcats return to the tournament looking for a victory this year with a strong lineup including senior Jessica Vasilic—who placed in the top-five at last year’s tournament—juniors Natalia Forero and Krystal Quihuis, sophomores Haley Moore and Gigi Stoll and freshman Sandra Nordaas.

The Wildcats look to improve their scores after the Windy City Collegiate, where they finished eighth overall. Ianello has been preparing the team by doing more pressure- and competition-like drills on a daily basis to give Arizona an edge. The Wildcats are also looking to improve their individual scores after Moore and Quihuis finished in a tie for 12th place, scoring 216 overall.

Moore said she has been working on her short game to improve her up-and-down percentage and to lower her scores. She said her mental game needs to stay patient, especially on the first day, because there is a lot of golf with 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.

The Wildcats have been using their time off since the last tournament to improve their game and head into the Pac-12 Preview strong, looking to come out on top.

Tee times will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday.
