Despite the recent media whirlwind surrounding Allonzo Trier, he was able to celebrate the UA victory against USC on Thursday, Jan. 19.

Arizona sophomore guard Allonzo Trier will make his season debut against No. 3 UCLA Saturday per Arizona Daily Star columnist Greg Hansen, via Twitter.

Arizona Athletics confirmed Trier’s return and released a statement Friday confirming his return.

“The NCAA notified us on Friday afternoon that Allonzo Trier’s most recent drug test was negative. Therefore, he is eligible to return to the court immediately and will be available for our game against UCLA,” the statement said.

Trier missed 19 games this season after he failed a random drug test in September for performance-enhancing drugs and the NCAA suspended him until the drug was completely out of his system.

Trier released a statement Wednesday admitting to taking the drug from someone who wasn’t affiliated with the university.

With Trier back into the lineup, Arizona has nine scholarship players and he brings back another scoring option for the Wildcats. He led the team last season averaging 14.8 points per game.

Tipoff between No. 14 Arizona and No. 3 UCLA is set for a 2 p.m. MST at Pauley Pavilion and will be aired on CBS.
