Roadrunners Christian Fischer and Dakota Mermis line up for a faceoff with Ontario Reign forward Cameron Schillings.

The Tucson Roadrunners will return home this weekend to take on the Pacific Division leading San Jose Barracuda, but first they make a stop in California on Wednesday to take on rival Ontario Reign.

Last week was a busy one for the Roadrunners who played three games and only winning against the San Diego Gulls on Saturday. The Roadrunners have played a season-long five games on the road, not including two home games at Gila River Arena, the home of the Arizona Coyotes. In total, the Roadrunners will have been away from Tucson for seven games.

The road trip was not ideal for the Roadrunners as they posted a record of 2-5-0. Goaltender Adin Hill was able to pick up both of the wins for his team but also received four losses during that span. Tucson and Ontario played each other once on Tucson’s road trip; Ontario dominated in a 4-1 win. The Roadrunners have been outscored 25-16 during the road trip and have won only two of their last 10 games. Ontario is currently in third place in the Pacific with a 26-13-8 record. They sit one place above the Tucson Roadrunners who hold a 22-18-5 record.

The Roadrunners are 5-2-1 against the Reign this season and will be looking to improve on those numbers as they head into Wednesday’s game. The puck is set to drop in Citizens Business Bank Arena at 8 p.m. Arizona time. Friday and Saturday the Roadrunners will host the San Jose Barracuda, who have beaten the Roadrunners in both contests this season. The Barracuda are led by rookie center Daniel O’Regan who has 45 points in 43 games played this year. O’Regan and Barclay Goodrow lead the team in goals with 16 each.

The Roadrunners are led by center and alternate captain Chris Mueller, who has 42 points in 45 games played. Rookie right winger Christian Fischer leads the team in goals scored with 18 in 40 games played. The Roadrunners were able to get some production from forwards Laurent Dauphin and Anthony Duclair during the road trip. Both forwards started the season with the Arizona Coyotes but have had productive years in the AHL, Anthony Duclair has 8 points in 12 games played Dauphin has 16 points in 20 games played.
