Arizona forward Chance Comanche will not return to the team next season and will keep his name in the NBA Draft. His decision came via Twitter.

Comanche originally announced his decision to declare for the draft April 8 and there was speculation that he wasn’t returning to Arizona after he posted a Snapchat of an all-black Lamborghini. However, it was his birthday weekend and the smoke was cleared after it was announced that the car was rented for a few days.

He wasn’t invited to the NBA Draft combine and was expected to go in the first-round of the 2018 draft to the Washington Wizards. Comanche averaged 6.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game as a sophomore off the bench and emerged as arguably Sean Miller’s best post defender last season.

Comanche took steps forward late in the season as a freshman especially in the Pac-12 Tournament and progressed last season, but he most likely would’ve remained in the same position with Dusan Ristic returning for his senior season and five-star center DeAndre Ayton coming in.

It’s most likely Comanche won’t hear his name June’s draft, but he has potential to sign with a team, play in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and work out a micro deal with a team. Crystal ball: Comanche will either spend a year or two in the NBA Development League to polish his game at the professional and become a bench contributor at some point in the NBA.

Or he could end up overseas like many Wildcats who leaped forward to the NBA early.
