The Rillito Race Track will host “U of A Days” this weekend, providing free admissions to all University of Arizona students, faculty and staff on Saturday, Feb. 24 and Sunday, Feb. 25.

In its 75th season, the Rillito Race Track will provide free entry to all UA members with a Cat Card, providing access to everything the park has to offer, including horse betting (for those over 21), food, music and educational seminars. The Rillito Race Track gates open at 10 a.m. on both days, with races beginning at 1 p.m. The UA Pep Band will kick off the races with their rendition of the national anthem.

The UA has been a long-standing partner of the Rillito Race Track, and many students actually work and contribute to race-day operations. According to General Manager and UA alumni Michael Weiss, UA students will be spearheading some of this weekend’s events, including a seminar on how to place bets on horses, which starts at 12 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

“Tucson really has a great mix of people. This weekend will be a great opportunity for students to come out, learn and just have an overall great time,” said Weiss.

Students from Dr. Edward Ackerley’s advertising management class, who are providing marketing for the Rillito Race Track in collaboration with UA Race Track Industry Program, will also be hosting activities, including a competition between student organizations.

For anyone without a Cat Card, general admission to the event is $5. For more information, follow Rillito Park Race Track 2018 on Facebook, or visit http://rillitoracetrack.com/
