Arizona’s Wilbur T. Wildcat holds up a sign for the ZonaZoo before the Arizona-USC Championship game at the 2018 Pac-12 Tournament on Saturday, March 10 in T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Arizona men’s basketball team will begin their road to the Final Four in Boise, Idaho with a first round match up with the University of Buffalo out of the Mid-American Conference. The Wildcats were pitted in the South Region and face a possible matchup with the Kentucky Wildcats should they beat the Bulls.

The March Madness bracket, released on Sunday, had the No. 1 seeds as Xavier, Virginia, Villanova and Kansas. Virginia is the No. 1 seed in the South and could be a potential Sweet Sixteen opponent should Arizona make it that far. The South features three power five conference tournament champions in the upper half of the bracket, Arizona (Pac-12), Kentucky (SEC) and Virginia (ACC).

Arizona is a No. 4 seed despite posting a 27-7 record, winning the regular season championship and the conference tournament.

ASU also made the field of 68 and will play in the Tuesday play-in game in Dayton, Ohio versus Syracuse. UCLA was the only other Pac-12 team to make the field as the selection committee chose to not include USC, the conferences No. 2 team in both the regular season and tournament, falling 75-61 in Saturday’s Pac-12 Tournament Championship to Arizona.
