UA Study Abroad Fair aims to broaden students' horizons
The UA Study Abroad Fair is an occasion where prospective students can learn all about the different programs offered from faculty members, alumni and foreign exchange students. This event will take place at the Student Union Memorial Center in the Grand Ballroom on Wednesday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This event will have tables set up throughout the ballroom, staffed with faculty from various programs, awaiting any questions prospective students may have. UA Global offers over 200 different study abroad programs in 60 different countries, so there is a study abroad program for every student, no matter the major or financial situation.
Daniel Vander Ploeg, marketing manager for Study Abroad Recruitment, encourages all students to study abroad and have the chance to have this life-changing experience.
“The study abroad fair is the best opportunity of the year for students to learn about their study abroad options from students that have gone abroad and to start academically and financially planning for study abroad,” Vander Ploeg said. “Our goal for the study abroad fair is that, by the time a student leaves the fair, they know exactly the steps they need to take to study abroad, they are confident that they can afford study abroad, and they have a good sense of their best program options.”
The application deadline for most study abroad programs this summer is Feb. 25, 2019, but Vander Ploeg suggested that students start planning to study abroad as soon as they start their college career. That ensures the student can take the proper classes abroad that will transfer back to UA and help assist their graduation credits.
