Sean Miller selected as assistant coach for USA Basketball team

Arizona head coach Sean Miller has been selected as an assistant coach for this summer’s 2014 USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team.

The 12-player roster team, which will compete against seven other countries in the FIBA Americas U18 Championship, will be led by University of Florida head coach Billy Donovan. Miller will be an assistant along side Providence College head coach Ed Cooley.

Current Wildcat, freshman Aaron Gordon, was recently named USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year and won a gold-medal this past summer playing for the 2013 USA Men’s U19 World Championship Team, also coached by Donovan.

Miller will begin coaching the team in early June at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. The location for this summer’s U18 FIBA Championship has not yet to be determined.

“Our program here at Arizona has a long and successful relationship with USA Basketball and I’m honored to add to that legacy,” Miller said in a press release.
