Arizona adds ex-USC quarterback for 2013
The Wildcats added another quarterback to its stable for next year, as former USC quarterback Jesse Scroggins verbally committed, according to Scout.com.
Scroggins was ranked the No.6 quarterback coming out of Lakewood (Calif.) High School. He left USC last summer after falling down the Trojans depth chart and spent a year at El Camino College. He completed 79 of 172 passes for 1,148 yards and eight touchdowns, while running 42 times for 56 yards.
He will be eligible to play for the UA in 2013 without sitting out because he spent the fall at a junior college and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
It is unclear who will start at quarterback next year for Arizona as current starter Matt Scott will run out of eligibility after the New Mexico Bowl on Dec. 15, but junior transfer B.J. Denker is the likely favorite.
Other quarterbacks expected on the roster include current freshmen Javelle Allen and Josh Kern, transfer Nick Isham and 2013 recruit Anu Solomon.
