Arizona's 2014-2015 Mens Basketball had their Red and Blue scrimmage and dunking contest at McKale on Saturday. The Red Team won 53-46 against the Blue team and Stanley Johnson won the dunking contest.

UA freshmen move into residence halls such as Coronado, Colonia de la Paz, and Yuma during the weekend as well as enjoy rock climbing, dancing and ziplining at the Residence Hall Association Block Party on Saturday on the UA Mall. The weekend ended with the New Student Convocation where students sat on towels on the UA Mall on Sunday evening.
Employees of the student union participated in an “unofficial” breaking of the worlds longest, continuous fish taco on Monday in the North Ballroom. Overall, the employees made 2,003 tacos and planned to use social media to announce their accomplishment. This event was part of a team builder activity for the employees. After the construction of the tacos, employees and people on campus were invited to eat before the rest were sent to the food bank.

The Park Place Mall was filled with guitars, community members and mall-goers on Friday and Saturday afternoon for the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance’s Guitar Festival. Children colored guitar pictures and got their faces painted. Parents listened to guitar performance and talked with booth owners about all things guitar. An air guitar competition was hosted in the food court while individual performances took place in front of Sears and Macy’s.
Thirty two thousand people attended the University of Arizona’s 150th Commencement at Arizona Stadium on Saturday evening to congratulate the 4,000 graduates for their work during their years at the UA. After an hour of students taking the field, the ceremony started with a speech by President Ann Weaver Hart. Anna Marie Chávez, the first CEO of the Girl Scouts of U.S.A., ended the procession with her graduation speech. After each college’s graduates graduated, Wilbur stood on a riser as smoke, fire and fireworks concluded the UA’s 150th Commencement.

Arizona won 9-6 against Boston College at Hillenbrand Stadium on Friday evening during the second game of the NCAA Tucson Regional. Arizona plays LSU at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Diversity is a qualitative measure. Its effectiveness can’t be measured merely by statistics. The goal of the project is to examine all of the atmospheric factors that contribute to feelings of exclusivity on our campus.

Photo 8: Byron Sloan is a senior studying sociology and retailing and consumer sciences. Sloan is also on the board of directors for Native American Student Affairs. One of his UA professors made comments about his “surprising” eloquence, especially considering that Sloan must have been educated on a reservation. (He was not.)
