    VIDEO: 2018 Arizona Democratic Gubernatorial Debate

    Candidates Kelly Fryer (Fryer for Arizona), David Garcia and Steve Farley — each vying for the 2018 Democratic nomination for Arizona governor — came to The University of Arizona campus Saturday, April 7, for a debate ahead of the Aug. 28 primary and Nov 6 general elections (where the winner will face off against Republican incumbent Governor Doug Ducey).

    The event was hosted by the UA Young Democrats, Young Democrats of Arizona and Pima County Democratic Party.

    The Arizona Daily Wildcat was on hand along with our partners from UATV 3 and KAMP Student Radio to produce this video of the debate in its entirety.

    QUESTION 1: [16:38 – 26:28] Something is happening in Arizona right now, people are wearing red on Wednesdays, teachers are standing up, things are happening…what is your solution for fixing the funding deficit in public education? 

    QUESTION 2: [26:29 – 33:45] This has to do with Arizona’s Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS)…people in rural areas have additional challenges to receiving health care, what do you think that the governor could do to address that issue? 

    QUESTION 3: [34:04 – 43:46] This has to do with a very unfortunate and very disturbing issue of gun violence in our schools. The incumbent has made a proposal about reducing or addressing, at least, gun violence in our schools. What is your plan; what is your vision of how to do this and what can the governor actually do in Arizona?
