Online commenting policy
The Daily Wildcat is committed to providing a forum for open dialogue and discussion. Comments are not moderated before publication or edited, but the Daily Wildcat reserves the right to delete online comments according to the guidelines set by this policy.
Comments should further the discussion on a given subject or article. The Daily Wildcat will not tolerate excessive vulgarity, ad hominem attacks, or comments that veer off topic.
A comment will be deleted if:
*The comment attacks an identified person or group.
*The comment discriminates against a particular group on the basis of gender, religion, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or other identity.
*The comment personally attacks a Daily Wildcat employee or contributor.
*The comment contains excessive obscenities, sexual explicitness, threats or encouragement of violence or illegal behavior.
*The comment could be considered libelous, or if it violates copyright or privacy protections.
*The comment was obviously written using someone else’s name.
*The comment is completely off-topic, or is determined to be unsolicited advertising and spam.
Readers can flag fellow user comments as inappropriate, and comments are monitored throughout the day.
The Daily Wildcat also reserves the right to block users who consistently violate the guidelines set by this commenting policy, based on a three-strike rule, and to close comment threads when discussion veers off topic and is no longer productive or germane to the article at hand.
