New UA football coach Kevin Sumlin: 'I really believe this is a special place.'

In Sumlin’s opening statement and throughout his Q&A session, the 53-year old head coach outlined a vision for the future of Arizona football. The vision, according to Sumlin, will be built on being a leader of young men, an involvement in the community and success on and off the football field. Sumlin even said he plans to do what no other Arizona football coach has been able to accomplish: get the team to a Rose Bowl. Read more

Sumlin contract: $14.5 million over five years

 He will also be the highest paid employee on campus, agreeing to a $14.5 million contract over five years, pending approval by the Arizona Board of Regents according to a UA press release. He will make $2 million during his first two years, and $3.5 million for the next three seasons.   Read more

Rich Rodriquez fired after internal investigation

On Jan. 2, University of Arizona head football coach Rich Rodriguez was terminated from his position. The decision, according to a statement released by the UA, was based on several factors “including the direction and climate of our football program.”  Read more
