Women’s tennis squads fall in Pac-12 quarters

Freshman Lauren Marker hits the ball during Arizona’s 4-2 win against ASU on April 19 at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. Arizona women’s tennis finished the Pac-12 Championships on Friday after two doubles teams made it to the quarterfinals, before both fell to their respective opponents.

Arizona women’s tennis completed play at the Pac-12 Championships in the quarterfinals after its last two doubles teams lost on Friday.

Senior Kim Stubbe and freshman Lauren Marker beat ASU’s Desirae Krawczyk and Leighann Sahagun in the round of 16 before losing to California’s Lynn Chi and Anett Schutting in the quarterfinals in the Championship Doubles bracket.

Seniors Akilah James and Susan Mc Rann beat Cal’s Alice Duranteau and Klara Fabikova in the Invitational Doubles bracket, but lost to Utah’s Luisa Gerstner Da Rosa and Sarah Richter in the quarterfinals.

James, who was seeded at No. 4, made it to the quarterfinals with two victories after defeating Dajiana Oognjenovic and Sophia Bott.

She lost to No. 1 seed Caroline Doyle of Stanford in the Invitational Singles bracket, 6-1, 6-0.
