Former UA student was victim in Aurora, Colo. shooting

At least one of the 12 people killed in the Aurora, Colo. shooting early yesterday morning was a former UA student.

According to his Facebook profile, Alex Teves, from Phoenix, graduated from the UA in 2010 with a degree in psychology, and had graduated in June from the University of Denver where he attended graduate school. The University of Denver issued a statement earlier today on its own Facebook profile.

“It is with great sadness that we share with you the tragic loss of a recent graduate student, Alex Teves, in the senseless shooting at an Aurora movie theater early Friday morning,” the statement reads. “Alex, a Phoenix, Ariz. native, graduated in June of this year from the Counseling Psychology program within the Morgridge College of Education. Our deepest condolences are with Alex’s family and friends, including the many current students and faculty who knew and worked with Alex.”
