Arizona Wildcat high jumper and junior Brigetta Barrett competed for Team USA in the final of the women’s high jump Saturday, winning the silver medal.

Barrett came in second place in the high jump competition with a personal-best clearance of 6-feet-8-inches (2.03m), the highest jump ever by a collegiate female. Barrett held the former mark as well, with a height of 6-feet-7-inches (2.01m) at the U.S. Olympic Trials on July 1st.

Because she did not record the height during the collegiate season, it does not count as the collegiate record. Barrett is the first Arizona track and field athlete to earn a medal in the Olympics since Michael Bates and Sandra Farmer-Patrick in 1992, and became the only Wildcat to ever medal in the women’s high jump.

Barrett will begin her senior season this fall.
