HALFTIME: Arizona basketball leads San Diego State 39-28

The No. 6 ranked Arizona Wildcats lead San Diego State 39-28 at halftime largely in part to Aaron Gordon’s efforts.

The highly touted freshman forward has been flawless and leads the Wildcats’ offensive production, shooting 5-for-5 from the field, compiling 12 points, three steals, and a rebound. Gordon is coming off of consecutively posting double-doubles in his first two starts of the season.

After finding it hard to break through San Diego’s defense early in the game, Gordon, along with junior guard Nick Johnson and freshman forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, seized offensive opportunities, leading an offensive onslaught that saw the Wildcats up by 13 points with just under eight minutes remaining in the period. The Aztecs refused to go down without a fight however, and tightened the lead to eight with six minutes left.

Johnson ended the half scoring 10 points, shooting 4-for-7 and added three rebounds.
