Arizona senior Mario Urquidi returns Stanford’s serve during Arizona’s 4-3 loss to Stanford at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center on March 30. Arizona opens play at the Pac-12 Conference tournament today.

Arizona men’s tennis will open the Pac-12 Championships against No. 53 Utah on Wednesday.

All rounds of the tournament, held in conjunction with the 114th Annual Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament, will be played at Libbey Park in Ojai, Calif.

Utah is seeded No. 5, while Arizona is placed at seed No. 8.

This is a familiar matchup for the Wildcats, as they beat the Utes 4-1 last weekend in Tucson.

“They’re a good team and we’re going to have to be ready,” head coach Tad Berkowitz said in a press release. “They’re going to be ready for us. But it’s nice to go into the Pac-12 conference tournament with a nice home win.”

The Pac-12 Championships are a single-elimination team tournament that goes until Apr. 26. The winner receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
