Arizona football beat ASU 42-35 on Friday to improve their record to 3-1 against AP top 25 teams. This is the first season since 1998 that the Wildcats have beaten three ranked teams and the first time since 2006 that the UA has defeated ranked teams in back-to-back weeks.

Arizona men’s basketball forward Stanley Johnson not only won the EA Sports Maui Invitational MVP award, but he also was named Pac-12 Player of the Week. He averaged 15.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game in Hawaii. Aloha.

Arizona women’s volleyball earned hosting duties for the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2002. The Wildcats are 9-0 in the Big Dance in Tucson.

Arizona women’s basketball snapped their nine-game losing streak with a 61-34 win over UC Santa Barbara. The Wildcats moved to the Hot side with their first win since Feb. 9.

Nebraska fired head coach Bo Pelini, which may unfortunately lead to the end of the @FauxPelini Twitter account. “LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT YOU ARE PAYING ME NOT TO LIVE IN LINCOLN NEBRASKA AND I AM SUPPOSED TO BE SAD,”

@FauxPelini tweeted.

After five St. Louis Rams entered the field making the “hands up, don’t shoot” gesture, the St. Louis Police Officers Association demanded the players be punished. The NFL declined.

On Monday, the Philadelphia 76ers lost their 17th game in a row to open the season. The 76ers are just the fourth team in NBA history to begin the season 0-17.

On Sunday night, a Valencia fan threw a bottle from the stands and hit Barcelona striker Lionel Messi in the head. Barcelona won the game 1-0.
