Arizona men’s basketball coach Sean Miller directs his team during Arizona’s 73-49 win against ASU in McKale Center on Jan. 4. The Wildcats have dropped two of their last four games.

HOT

Arizona baseball

Arizona baseball sophomore Bobby Dalbec and junior Kevin Newman were named to the Perfect Game preseason All-American third team. The infielders received the preseason awards after solid performances last season. Also, Collegiate Baseball named Newman and junior Scott Kingery to the 2015 Lousiville Slugger Preseason All-American teams.

Ohio State football

In what is to go down in CFP history, Ohio State defeated Oregon 42-20 in the first-ever College Football Playoff Championship. The Ducks looked lost on offense, and their defense just couldn’t quite stop the OSU rushing attack led by running back Ezekiel Elliott. Props to quarterback Cardale Jones for leading the Buckeyes in just his third start. He will easily go down as the best third-string quarterback ever.

Arizona football

Even though their last two games did not go the way they wanted it to, the Arizona Wildcats finished the season ranked No. 19 by the AP Poll. This ranking is the Wildcats’ eighth time being ranked in the AP Top 25. Plus, they can say they are one of two teams who were able to beat the Oregon Ducks, a team that made it all the way to the CFP championship.

NOT

Arizona men’s basketball

The winter break did not serve the Arizona Wildcats well. First, the Wildcats lost to UNLV on the road, and then they lost to Oregon State on Sunday night. The UA also dropped to No. 10 on the AP Poll. It needs to find a player who will take over games late in the fourth quarter, especially with the loss of dynamic scorer Nick Johnson.

Denver Broncos

After their Sunday afternoon loss to the Indianapolis Colts 24-13, Denver Broncos fans were disappointed. Then, they found out star quarterback Peyton Manning had played the game and the past month with a torn quad. Now, head coach John Fox mutually parted ways with the Broncos. They are without a head coach and possibly a quarterback if Manning decides to retire.

Arizona women’s basketball

The Wildcats have four straight losses, including a recent loss to in-state rival ASU. Plus, they are 0-4 in the Pac-12 Conference. After a solid nonconference run, the Wildcats are struggling to find any momentum. If they don’t win soon, they might go down the losing path just like the previous season.
