    Two angry men

On Sunday night, two UA students were arrested for underage drinking after a physical altercation between them.

A University of Arizona Police Department officer was patrolling near Sixth Street and Highland Avenue when he heard a group of people yelling in the breezeway under Villa del Puente Residence Hall.

The officer saw two students grabbing each other by their clothes and attempting to punch each other and separated them.

The first student said the fight broke out when the other student started to “chirp” at him and called him a track star, making the student upset. The second student then punched him in the face twice near his eye and then again near his ear.

The officer noticed no visible physical injuries but did notice that the student’s clothes were disheveled and stretched out from the other student grabbing him.

The student did not want medical attention and said he was fine. The officer noticed he had bloodshot, watery eyes and an odor of intoxicants emitting from his breath. The student said he had been drinking earlier.

The second student said it had been a stupid argument and that he let his anger get the best of him.

He said the fight began verbally and led to punching. The officer noticed his clothes had also been stretched and looked disheveled.

The officer noticed that the second student also had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath, as well as bloodshot, watery eyes. He told the officer he, too, was drinking earlier.

While neither student wished to pursue criminal charges, both students were arrested for minor in possession of alcohol in body and diverted to the Dean of Students Office.

Throwing the boyfriend under the bus

Around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, a UAPD officer was dispatched to Manzanita-Mohave Residence Hall in response to reports of an odor of marijuana.

Upon arrival, the officer met with the reporting party, who escorted the officer to the fifth floor.

When the officer entered the hallway, he could smell a faint odor of marijuana and found the room it was coming from.
The officer knocked on the door and a student answered.

Another student who was sitting on a bed said it was his room, along with a third student in the room.
The officer asked if he could enter, and the resident agreed.

The officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana and a glass bong with water and marijuana residue sitting on the desk.
The officer asked whose bong it was, and one student said it was her boyfriend’s.

All three students admitted to smoking marijuana.

The officer read all three students their Miranda rights and asked if he could search the room, to which the resident agreed.

The officer found another glass bong, a silver metal grinder with marijuana residue in it and a glass container labeled “Bleu Cheese” with 1.6 grams of marijuana in it.

The resident had already been diverted to the Dean of Students Office and was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The other students were diverted to the Dean of Students Office.
