Stanley Johnson speaks with Tucson Police Officer Swaton at the scene his car collision on the corner of Helen Street and Park Avenue on Thursday evening.

Shortly after declaring for the 2015 NBA Draft, Daily Wildcat sports reporter Justin Spears reported Arizona basketball forward Stanley Johnson was involved in a car accident next to Park Avenue Garage near Speedway Boulevard and Park Avenue.

Johnson was making a left turn from Helen Street onto Park Avenue when his Dodge Challenger collided with a Ford Explorer traveling southbound on Park Avenue.

It is unknown if Johnson was at fault in the accident, but he is uninjured.

Approximately an hour before the accident, Johnson announced his decision to declare for the 2015 NBA Draft. The freshman from Fullerton, Calif. put up per game averages of 13.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals during his lone season at Arizona.

He is projected as a top-10 draft pick by most NBA mock drafts.

Arizona football wide receiver Cayleb Jones was spotted at the scene and tweeted out a photo with Johnson which said, “@_5Gauge he’s good no worries, no car wreck around here! #1love”

It’s unclear if Jones was in the vehicle with Johnson at the time of the accident.
