The Wildcats men’s tennis team will be spending Halloween weekend in Las Vegas, but not for the Halloween festivities. Three players from the team will be participating in the Larry Easley Memorial Classic, which begins on Friday and ends on Sunday.

The Wildcats will send sophomore Shoki Kasahara, senior Trevor James and freshman Will Adkisson to compete in the tournament in both doubles and singles competition.

The doubles team consists of Kasahara and Adkisson, who will begin play Friday. James and Adkisson both carry winning records in singles play into the tournament as James has a record of 6-1 and Adkisson a 6-2 record.

This tournament will provide the Wildcats with good experience as it will be Kasahara’s second tournament of the year and Adkisson and James’ third.

Head coach Tad Berkowitz believes this tournament will be beneficial for the players’ growth due to the opposing talent in the tournament.

“This is a great opportunity for us to compete against a very high level of competition,” Berkowitz said. “Our guys have been working hard, and I’m excited to see their progress.”

The tournament will showcase representatives from Boise State, NAU, Oklahoma State, Oregon, UNLV, Grand Canyon and Mesa Community College.

The Wildcats will open play on Friday with one round of doubles play and two rounds of singles.

Arizona will look to keep making strides in the fall to be prepared for Pac-12 Conference play in the spring.
