Associated Students of the University of Arizona Senators started their Nov. 9 meeting off with a tour of the College of Fine Arts facilities, followed by the approval of the special election results, the inauguration of the new senators and comments about the presidential election.

After the Senate approved the results from last week’s special election, Aaron Varela and Katelyn Hilde were sworn in by Chief Justice Russell Johnson.

A serious mood settled among senators when Sen. Enrico Trevisani and Sen. Kincaid Rabb wished to address everyone about the results of Tuesday night’s election.

“To the students of the entire university, I will say what I was told at Pride Alliance this afternoon, and that is, stay safe and stay proud,” Rabb said.

Sen. Trevisani wants the senators to be aware that some students are afraid. He said as senators and leaders on campus, they have to make a special effort to stand up for justice.
