A pair of goals was all that Arizona women’s soccer needed as it cruised to a 2-0 victory Friday night.

Arizona took care of Boise State in Mulcahy Stadium as junior Taryn Siegele and freshman Brooke Wilson each found the back of the net, giving the Wildcats their fifth-straight win of the season.

After dropping the season opener to Albany, the Wildcats have since been on a hot streak with no signs of slowing down.

Wilson got things going in the 40th minute after receiving a cross from Jill Aguilera, who placed the ball in a perfect spot for Wilson to finish with a header.

“I saw a run I can make, Jill played a perfect ball. It was to the T, if I wouldn’t have made that, that would have just been sad,” Wilson said.

Wilson recorded her third goal of the season.

“After every goal my heart is beating; I’m so excited,” Wilson said.

Coming out of the half, Arizona picked up the pace even more, applying pressure on the ball while keeping the Broncos on their heels the remainder of the game. Playing hard for 90 minutes isn’t necessarily due to having a young team on the pitch, at least not according to head coach Tony Amato.

“We want to work hard. We want to grind. We want to make sure that’s our foundation,” Amato said. “Young or old, that’s just what my expectation is.”

Siegele, who was cut as she attempted to walk on her freshman year, scored her first goal in the 80th minute with a header off a set piece.

“It was really exciting. There’s no words to describe it,” Siegele said. “Having my teammates support me, hug me and huddle me in even on the bench all screaming my name, it shows you how close our team is and how we’ll fight for each other.”

Teammate Sabrina Enciso was just as thrilled for Siegele.

“I know the past few games she’s gone in for the same amount of time and she’s been so close. She finally got it,” Enciso said. “I was so happy for her. She deserves it so much.”

The Wildcats have shut out their past five opponents, earning themselves a 16-1 scoring record, and they will look to do it again on Sunday as they host Baylor at 2 p.m.
