Coronavirus: A sports timeline
The Pac-12 Conference, like many other conferences around the country, have cancelled their tournaments due to the huge rise of coronavirus.
The process of going from tournaments with fans to nothing at all has happened in just a matter of days and the timeline of events is pretty quick, reaching professional sports as well. It all started on March 10 when the Ivy League decided to cancel their conference tournament.
1:31 p.m.: NCAA President, Mark Emmert, issues statement.
2:41 p.m.: Arizona-Washington tip off.
3:35 p.m.: The Big Ten announces there will not be any fans allowed in attendance for the rest of their tournament games.
4:48 p.m.: Arizona beats Washington 77-70.
5:14 p.m.: The Thunder vs. Jazz NBA game is cancelled due to Rudy Gobert possibly having coronavirus.
5:53 p.m.: The Pac-12 issues a statement saying games will be continued but with limited attendance.
6:12 p.m.: The Southeastern Conference announces they will have limited attendance for the rest of its tournament.
6:13 p.m.: Atlantic 10 Conference announces there will be no fans for the rest of its tournament.
6:31 p.m.: The NBA suspended the season.
6:57 p.m.: The MAAC announces limited attendance for the rest of its tournament.
6:59 p.m.: A video makes its way to Twitter showing Nebraska head coach Fred Hoiberg leaning over in pain on the sideline during a basketball game.
7:10 p.m.: Hoiberg leaves midgame and is taken to the hospital.
7:31 p.m.: The Big East announces restricted attendance for the rest of its tournament.
9:43 p.m.: Hoiberg diagnosed with the common cold and was released from the hospital.
10:44 p.m.: Arizona Athletics releases a statement.
8:46 a.m.: The American Conference cancels its tournament.
8:47 a.m.: The Big Ten cancels its tournament.
8:49 a.m.: The SEC cancels its tournament.
8:57 a.m.: Conference USA cancels its tournament.
8:58 a.m.: The Atlantic 10 cancels its tournament.
9:01 a.m.: The Western Athletic Conference cancels its tournament.
9:06 a.m.: St. John's vs. Creighton tip-off.
9:14 a.m.: The Pac-12 cancels its tournament.
9:15 a.m.: The Atlantic Coast Conference cancels its tournament.
9:17 a.m.: The University of Arizona Athletics department cancels all sporting events until further notice.
9:19 a.m.: The Mid-American Conference cancels its tournament.
10:00 a.m.: The Big East cancels its tournament.
10:36 a.m.: The National Hockey League releases a statement saying the 2019-20 season is on "pause."
12:10 p.m.: Major League Baseball releases a statement saying spring training is suspended and that opening day will be delayed.
1:16 p.m.: The NCAA cancels remaining winter and spring championships, including the men's and women's March Madness basketball tournaments.
