NCAA announces college basketball will begin on November 25th
Arizona Women's Basketball shatters its previous attendance record of 8,400 by having over 10,000 fans come out to see the team play at McKale Center on Wednesday evening.
The NCAA announced Wednesday, Sept. 16, that the 2020-21 college basketball season will start on Nov. 25th, according to ESPN.
The NCAA Division I Council voted to delay the start of the season until the day before Thanksgiving. The idea behind this start date was that most schools will be ending their fall semester at this time, providing at least a month of time where these players will be the only people on campus.
Per NCAA's rules, practices can begin 42 days prior to the start of the season, meaning they can begin on Oct. 14th.
This is the current set date, but it can still be moved around or adjusted by certain conferences or schools. The plan to hold the NCAA tournament in March is still scheduled according to NCAA senior vice president Dan Gavitt.
