The Arizona baseball team picked up the series win against No. 2 Oregon State this weekend at Hi Corbett Field

Friday: OSU wins 12-9

Arizona got out to an early 2-run lead in the first inning Friday night until Oregon State struck back with a 4-run third inning. Starter TJ Nichols would allow 5 earned runs in five innings pitched. A tied 5-5 ballgame would be blown open by OSU with a 7-run eighth inning to make it 12-5. Arizona’s comeback efforts fell short despite a 3-run bottom of the ninth.

Saturday: Arizona wins 5-2

Game two on Saturday was more of a pitcher’s duel tied at 1-1 through the first six and a half innings. Garrett Irvin was dealing on Senior night, his final start on the mound at Hi Corbett Field. He lasted seven innings, recording 9 strikeouts and only 3 hits and an earned run. Arizona’s bats came alive in the seventh as Caulfield led off with a single followed by  Noah Turley's 441-foot homer over the left-field wall to make it 3-1 Arizona. Daniel Susac would later bring in Bingham and Splaine to score on an RBI single up the middle with two outs to make it 5-1.

Sunday: Arizona wins 10-5

The rubber match on Sunday was at a noon start time and just about 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Arizona trailed 5-1 through the first five innings until Mac Bingham stepped to the plate in the bottom of the fifth with two outs. Bullard and Turley had walked previously in the inning and Bingham brought them in to score with one swing of the bat, a 3-run-homer to left-field to cut the OSU lead to 5-4. Chase Davis would hit a 2-run homer in the sixth followed by an RBI single by Splaine to make it 7-5 Arizona. Back-to-back RBI doubles by Tony Bullard and Garen Caulfield made it 10-5 Arizona at the end of the seventh.

Arizona will travel to Eugene this weekend to face Oregon in their final series of the regular season.
