Black Cherry Burlesque brings seduction to the Rialto stage

Nothing gets an audience more fired up than a stage full of sexy burlesque dancers. The show “Black Cherry Burlesque” did just that on Friday night.

Held at downtown’s Rialto Theatre , “Black Cherry Burlesque” transformed the night into a fun — and sexy — time for all. Approximately 90 seats had been put out for audience members, but most people stood up and watched the show right in front of the stage.

The show started off with performer Lola Torch walking through the audience in a long, black latex dress, singing an appropriately named song, “Let Me Entertain You.”

After Torch finished singing, she got on stage and slowly started to take off her clothes as she danced to the music in the background. Torch’s performance captivated the audience instantly and left it eager to see the next act of the night.

As Torch left the stage in a sassy walk, Natalia Flores, the emcee for the show, took over and introduced herself. Flores, a drag queen, had an amazing sense of humor and kept the audience engaged during the entire show, queueing them to yell “shit, god damn!” throughout the night.

The full cast of “Black Cherry Burlesque” consisted of six burlesque dancers named Lola Torch, Kitten Minx LaFemme, Gypsy Danger, Ember Lace, Bunny Boom Boom and Lela Rose, all equally fabulous.

“All the dancers were amazing,” said Anna Bencriscutto, a friend of emcee Natalia Flores. “It’s always a good time when titties are involved.”

The audience threw money onstage during each burlesque performance. The dancer Kitten Minx La Femme had the crowd in the palm of her hands during both her performances. Minx displayed the most sexual moves out of all of the dancers, and apparently wowed the audience by doing the splits.

Natalia Flores dance to “Kiss It Better” by Rihanna also evoked a constant state of applause from the audience.

“My favorite performance of the night was Natalia,” said Mary Cho, a college student visiting Tucson. “She was full of energy and really put on a show.”

“Black Cherry Burlesque” remains Tucson’s longest running burlesque show, going on its tenth year of entertaining audiences. The burlesque has found its new home at the Rialto Theatre, and after this successful performance, it looks like the show will remain comfortable here for a while.
