"Stand Up Against Hate" Rally

July 22, 2015 at 8:09 am

The "Stand Up Against Hate" rally, organized by Sumayyah Dawud, with the "Anti-Colonial Anarchist Bloc" acting in solidarity, was originally intended as a counter-protest to the cancelled anti-Islam "Let Freedom Ring Freedom of Speech Rally" led by Dean Remington. Despite the cancellation of the original free speech event, the two responding groups continued with a more generalized message against hate. Both groups assembled at 4 p.m. on the southwest corner of the intersection of North Euclid Avenue and East Speedway Boulevard and later marched together to the Ronstadt Transit Center in downtown Tucson after confirming no one was protesting outside the Islamic Center of Tucson.
