On Friday, May 13, 4,600 graduating students and 36,000 guests gathered in the University of Arizona Stadium for the 158th commencement ceremony. It started with a pre-commencement show, featuring stories from various figures from the university.

Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar, United States Congressman from Arizona’s 4th District, visited the University of Arizona for a talk hosted by College Republicans United Thursday, April 21. Gosar has been in office since 2010, consistently winning elections in his district by large margins. He is up for reelection in November.

Based on past graduation data, the University of Arizona is expecting to see about 12,000 students graduate in the fiscal year 2021, with thousands of bachelor’s and master’s degrees, hundreds of doctorate degrees, as well as several hundred certificates awarded. At least 7,000 of those students will be graduating this spring.

The University of Arizona held “A Day of Memory, Healing, and Hope” on Wednesday, March 23 to commemorate the two-year anniversary of the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ceremony, hosted by the University Religious Council, featured poems, songs and stories from various speakers. Lin Haurani, president of the URC, said that the event was intended as “a day for remembering what has been lost since the pandemic began."
