Congratulations to all students who are graduating this semester. In today's world a college degree is so necessary that graduating doesn't seem that important any more. The accomplishment of completing your collegiate education doesn't seem as great because, well, everyone does it.

Brooks Reed has soared up draft boards since the NFL Combine as one of the premiere pass-rushers in this year's draft. But since he only recorded 17 sacks in his entire career, it was clear that Reed's rise must be attributed to his potential and not his production. To get a feel for the possible first-round pick, I took a look at film from two games from the 2010 season: one of his best games (five tackles and two sacks in Arizona's 34-27 win over Iowa) and one of his worst games (one tackle and no sacks in Arizona's 10-9 win over Cal).

While I was covering the Arizona football program for the last two seasons I often found myself wondering: Who are the Wildcats?

During the course of this year, sophomore Julie Labonte has established herself as one of the best shot putters in the country. The Quebec, Canada, native won the NCAA Indoor Championships last month and was named this week's Pacific 10 Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for her efforts at the Texas Relays.

A little less than a year ago, the city of Tucson was devastated that the Arizona men's basketball team didn't make the NCAA Tournament for the first time in a quarter century. A few months before that, they were mourning an embarrassing 33-0 loss to Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl, and as recently as a few weeks ago, Tucsonans were too upset about the football team's five-game losing streak to even acknowledge it.

The Arizona and ASU rivalry is the oldest in college football, but never in its storied history has there been a game like this — and there probably won't be one like it ever again.

For a second, I thought it was 2005.

Like most probably expected, head coach Mike Stoops had little explanation for his team's performance in its 42-17 loss to Stanford on Saturday.

STANFORD, Calif. — In a matchup between a top-10 offense and a top-10 defense, something had to give. The Wildcats defense gave.

If the Pacific 10 Conference is the land of quarterbacks, Stanford is the capital. There's no other way to put it: Andrew Luck is great, to the point where his head coach calls him perfect and openly admits he loves him as much as his own wife.

Sophomore Jake Fischer has caught the eye of coaches since his sophomore year at Ironwood Ridge High School. The linebacker spoke with the Daily Wildcat about his recruiting process and what it's like to play for Mike Stoops.

It was business as usual for Arizona football head coach Mike Stoops on Monday, who was more pleased with the performance of his team during the 29-21 win over UCLA than he was about the bigger picture of improving his career record to 40-40.

PASADENA, Calif. – At about 4:30 on Saturday afternoon, after a 29-21 win over UCLA, the Arizona Wildcats football season officially started.

College football is constantly changing, and nothing embodies that more than the ever-evolving offensive systems. Over the years we've seen the power option turn into the I-form turn into the pro form turn into the West Coast turn into the spread. Now we're seeing Wildcat formations and spread-options.

Pro: Start Scott while you still can
(10/27/10 4:00am)
Matt Scott played as close to a perfect game as a quarterback could play in Arizona's 44-14 win over Washington on Saturday. He proved that, if needed, he could fill in for starter Nick Foles and the coaching staff wouldn't have to worry about any lack in production.

The odds of a fan seeing a great quarterback at Arizona Stadium on Saturday night were pretty high.

Juron Criner has stolen the headlines this season. The junior's highlight-reel grabs and 16.7 yards-per-catch average are enough for wide-eyed fans to whisper NFL and All-Pac-10 rumors, but hidden beneath the glaring star power of Criner are two wide receivers who are as dependable to a quarterback as a dog is to its owner.

Nick Foles is hurt. Matt Scott is in. Foles is known for his arm, Scott is known for his feet. Common sense tells us that, with Foles now out indefinitely, Arizona would change its game plan to better suit Scott.

The most dreaded ""what if"" scenario in all of football has struck the Arizona Wildcats: what if the star quarterback gets hurt?
