Q&A with Lori Wiest, new director of the UA Fred Fox School of Music

From her childhood years into adulthood, Lori Wiest has been surrounded by music. Now, she has been appointed the new director of the University of Arizona’s Fred Fox School of Music starting on July 1. Part of Wiest's personal music education occurred at the UA. Thirty years ago, Wiest received her doctorate in choral conducting from the UA. In addition, Wiest also has a master's degree in choral music from Arizona State University and a bachelor's in music education and piano performance from North Dakota State University. Read more

Women's basketball: ASU wins territorial cup matchup 60-47 to split season series

Arizona State dropped its first matchup with Arizona in late December, never gaining the lead as the Wildcats pressured the Sun Devils off the court. This was not the case on Friday night, as the Wildcats were bullied inside for most of the night, unable to take advantage of ASU’s depth in the front court. The Sun Devils were led by Courtney Ekmark, who had 20 points and seven assists, while Kianna Ibis put up a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Read more

Arizona softball prepares for memorable season

With less than a week until opening day, the Wildcats are starting the 2019 softball season with new opportunities to erase last year’s disappointment. The ‘Cats' home away from home, Hillenbrand Stadium, had renovations made and will be the venue for a team that ended the season 28-4 at home.  Read more

The University of Arizona baseball team kicked off the season last Friday with its first practice at Hi Corbett field. Arizona men's basketball suffers second straight blowout loss, 90-69 to UCLA

Arizona came into the game coming off a 23-point blowout at the hands of USC and followed it through with an almost identical performance, losing big 90-69, as it once again labored to get anything on the offensive end going while letting UCLA and its talented big men bully them inside on both ends of the floor. The absence of Chase Jeter once again looked to hamstring and restrict the Wildcats on both sides of the court. Read more
