Biden hosts call on higher education

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan discussed issues in higher education during a conference call with student journalists across the nation on Thursday. Ariz. weighs $2K tuition charge bill

Students attending the UA, Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University who are not on a full-ride scholarship for academics or athletics may be charged an extra $2,000 out-of-pocket to attend school. Read more

Funding proposal shortchanges the UA

Gov. Jan Brewer proposed a budget plan that will allocate a $15 million increase to the three in-state universities for one-time expenditures. A majority of the money, if her plan is approved by the Legislature, will go to ASU and NAU in an attempt to make up for previously unfunded growth of the schools. Read more
