Faculty, staff union voice concerns about UA’s handling of Omicron spike

With the spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant and a spike in the number of cases on campus, University of Arizona faculty and members of the United Campus Workers of Arizona have written a series of letters to UA leadership addressing their concerns about the handling of the current public health situation at the UA.

What is it like to stay in an isolation dorm?

Isolation dorms are just one example of new policies and practices that University of Arizona residential housing put into place during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure the safety of students and faculty. In isolation dorms, where students who test positive for COVID-19 live until they are cleared by a Campus Health professional, there are also many protocols made to guarantee the safety of students living within those facilities.

An extra special homecoming for the class of 2020

For many students who graduated in 2020, finding out that they would not be able to walk across the stage to receive their degree was heart crushing. But after months of waiting, the class of 2020 were finally able to celebrate at the 2020 Graduation Celebration on Nov. 5 at the University of Arizona Mall.

Class of 2020 to hold long-awaited in-person graduation ceremony Friday

An in-person graduation ceremony will be held for the University of Arizona’s class of 2020 on Friday, Nov. 5, after the COVID-19 pandemic forced last year’s commencement online. The event will start at 4 p.m. and take place in front of the Old Main building — marking it the first time in over 100 years that the ceremony was held at this iconic location.

ASUA Student Legal Services begins hiring process to reopen their office

After being closed for over a year, the Associated Students of the University of Arizona’s Student Legal Services has restarted their hiring process. In the past, ASUA Student Legal Services offered free basic legal advice to UA students. Though they did not represent students in court, Student Legal Services provided counsel on a variety of subjects. 

University status update: All UA employees to be vaccinated by Dec. 8

The University of Arizona’s virtual university status update team met on Monday, Oct. 18, to discuss COVID-19 public health and safety measures and to encourage the remaining unvaccinated UA students and employees to get inoculated against COVID-19. The team was joined by Deepta Bhattacharya, a professor of immunobiology at the UA.
