Remembering the past: Desert Swarm

A name that stands out in itself: Head Coach Dick Tomey’s defense between the years 1992-94 was unparalleled and unrivaled. Opposing teams averaged barely 30 yards rushing a game, which was some of the best rush defense in 30 years. According to the late Tomey, the defense was very simple as it had the same front every play, and almost never blitzed. Arizona football fires defensive coordinator Marcel Yates, Chuck Cecil to take over

On Sunday night, Arizona football fired defensive coordinator Marcel Yates after Arizona allowed 133 points in the previous three games to Washington, USC and Stanford.  Chuck Cecil, a defensive analyst, is set to take over for Yates. Arizona football dropped its third consecutive game of the season to the Stanford Cardinal this afternoon by a final score of 41-31 on the road in Palo Alto, Calif. Arizona football drops second consecutive game on the road against Trojans

Arizona football dropped its third total and second consecutive game of the season on the road tonight against the USC Trojans by a final score of 14-41. Arizona's offense was lead by true freshman Grant Gunnell, as the first-year threw for a total of 196 yards on 16-for-26 completions. Gunnell threw for two touchdowns and one interception on the night after being subbed in for Khalil Tate during the third quarter. Read more
