Arizona hockey defeats Western Michigan in first game of ACHA Men’s Division I tournament

There was no lack of excitement from the Arizona hockey team’s first game in the ACHA Men’s Division I tournament on Thursday afternoon. The 16th seed Wildcats faced off against the 17th seed Western Michigan Stallions in what would prove to be the most thrilling game on the first day of the national tournament at Robert Morris University Illinois. Arizona hockey earns postseason berth

The Arizona hockey team is headed back to the ACHA Division I national tournament after a two-year absence from the postseason. The Wildcats (9-16-4) have qualified as a 16 seed for the tourney, which takes the top 17 ranked teams in the conference. Read more

Hockey goes 1-2 against Colorado schools; No. 3 Minot State up next

The Arizona hockey team continued its march toward a national tournament berth after an impressive win in its three-game weekend set. The Wildcats beat then-ranked No. 8 Colorado in a dominating fashion on Saturday night by a score of 6-1, avenging the team’s loss to the Buffaloes the night prior and to Colorado State on Thursday. The goal for the Arizona hockey team heading into its three-game set last weekend was to enter the national tournament discussion.
