UA reentry task force rejoins to discuss rising COVID-19 Delta variant spread, start of fall semester

The University of Arizona’s COVID-19 reentry task force met virtually on Monday, Aug. 9, for their first meeting leading into the 2021-22 school year. The group, consisting of university President Dr. Robert C. Robbins, Vice President of Communications Holly Jensen and 17th surgeon general and professor Dr. Richard Carmona, met to discuss both their concerns regarding the Delta variant of COVID-19 and their plans for the upcoming fall semester. ASUA: Everything about UA's student government

There is not a more persuasive student voice on campus than that of the Associated Students of the University of Arizona, or ASUA. For close to a century, the student body has elected a student government to represent and fight for their voices to be heard. The Student Success District: Campus’s newest addition

In 2018 the UA broke ground on the new Student Success District, a project that not only will connect the Main Library, Bear Down Gym and the Albert B. Weaver Science-Engineering Library, but also includes construction of another connected building — the Bartlett Academic Success Center. Parts of the district will open for the first time this fall. BREAKING: New delta-plus coronavirus variant detected

Two cases of the new delta-plus COVID-19 variant were detected in South Korea on Tuesday. This new variant may have traits such as increased transmissibility, stronger binding to receptors of lung cells and a potentially decreased antibody response compared to other variants. Read more

Barstool Sports announces Arizona Bowl sponsorship

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy announced on Tuesday that the digital media company will sponsor the 2021 Arizona Bowl. As part of the sponsorship deal, Barstool will have exclusive international broadcast rights for the duration of the multi-year deal. Read more

Major changes happening in Greek Life this fall

The University of Arizona United Sorority and Fraternity Council, Panhellenic Council and Interfraternity Council will begin to return to in-person events in the fall. Due to the return of in-person events after a year of being online, fraternity and sorority organizations plan on being more involved in the community and having more in-person events with philanthropy. Pima County health director advises vaccinated individuals to wear masks indoors

On Wednesday morning, Pima County Health Director Dr. Theresa Cullen held a press conference addressing recently updated Centers for Disease Control and Prevention mask-wearing guidelines for vaccinated individuals in light of the spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant in the community. Cullen urged fully vaccinated individuals to wear masks indoors in compliance with new CDC guidelines. Read more
